Motion Graphics: Jim Jinkins
This was a final in my Motion
Graphics class, where we primarily learned how to use After Effects.
Our assignment was to choose an admired artist and display our
knowledge of a checklist of effects in the program. I do love Doug.

Pivot & Flash:
"Stick Thriller"
I actually created this in
about 2005 just for fun with the free program "pivot" - before I had had
any animation classes whatsoever. I never expected it would get over
200,000 views on YouTube, however, I must attribute some of its
popularity to the fact that it is based on the great Michael Jackson.

Final: "The Moon Walks"
Our final was to be 30 seconds
of animation incorporating all the principles we had learned over 3
months. As a huge Michael Jackson fan, I thought it would be a lot
of fun to try and synchronize it to the first few phrases of Billie
Jean, even though I wasn't really able to layer in sound at the
time. I was actually amazed when I finally added it in much later
and my timing for the sync-up was so perfect! I am such a nerd!

Zibbit Takes the Cake
Exercise: A
character must lift and carry off a heavy object. Zibbit really
loves cake.
|
|
Zibbit's Weight
I kept with
Zibbit, this time to demonstrate the differences in weight with a
lighter object, a heavier object, and him, a medium-weighted object.
Some cheap tricks and cycles taint this a bit for me now, but still
my first class here so cut me a break. :)

Enter: Zibbit
Little bean
creature hops up onto a table for a piece of cake. An exercise
demonstrating squash and stretch, timing and anticipation, made in
2006 in my first animation class.

Morph
First
"morph" animation I did, from a realistic bird into my character
Scooter. Could use a few more in-betweens, but, alas. Whoops, forgot
to morph clothes!

Bouncing Ball
The very
first, hand-drawn, animated bouncing ball I ever drew in my life. I
hadn't quite grasped spacing yet, and was pretty enthusiastic about
the whole thing, so it is a tad slow. Ah, nostalgia.
